We loved it all! The rafting was great, the guides made it fun and were very knowledgeable about the river + jungle environment. The Lodge was beautiful and it was great waking up to the sound of the river + birds singing. The meals were delicious and the canopy tour was awesome – flying through the trees like Tarzan + Jane. After a great day of hiking with Max, our massage with Gigi was heaven. We came from Paradise Island, Bahamas, but now we have found PARADISE at Pacuare Lodge! Thanks for a wonderful vacation.

We did not know what to expect, this being our first trip to Costa Rica and having rafted the “tame” rivers near where we live.
What a delightful surprise – from the long bus ride into the mountains, the easy first day to learn how to handle the river – then overnight in what could only be described as a 5star tropical paradise. The Pacuare Lodge was completely unanticipated splendor, the second day on the river was total excitement. The guides are the best, in the boat and at the Lodge. The food, the activities – everything – we will absolutely do it again!

The Rafting experience was phenomenal and Cholo was the best guide. We felt absolutely safe at all times, even during the class IV rapids. The beauty is something I’d like to share with all my family and friends. The Pacuare Lodge is magnificent, the food superb and every one of the staff was helpful and friendly, the canopy tour guides were extremely patient and careful; I am glad I did it but since I don’t like height, I might not rush back! I will recommend this trip to everyone I know.

This was more beautiful than I had expected. It was amazing to stay in such a pristine & exotic place & yet enjoy quality food & accommodations. The food was excellent, the rooms were the most beautiful I’ve ever stayed in. I appreciated the friendly, knowledgeable guides, as well as their ability to serve at all levels – completely diverse duties. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
My only complaint is that I didn’t book the 2 night, 3 day stay. I will tell our friends & definitely come back.

The entire trip was fantastic! Alex was a great guide who kept us entertained through everything. The food Henry cooked was truly unreal! He was also nice enough to share with us how to make one of the soups. Willman + George were great answering all questions and took the time to sit down and tell us about this beautiful country. Our room was terrific and the fact that there was no electricity just added to the experience. Would fully recommend to anyone thinking about making a trip down to Costa Rica. From star to finish we were made to feel so very special. Our guide, Carlitos was very professional. He was serious about teaching us safety procedures.. I felt absolutely safe with this man! He obviously knew every nuance of the river. And the painted flowers on my face from rock “paint”. The grounds were serene – a balm to the soul! The cabins discreetly built… the trails lovely.

The place was magical and although one fines oneself in the middle of the jungle every comfort is made available. The staff are extremely accommodating and we felt like one of the family in no time. This was the most awesome experience I have ever had. It was great rafting to the lodge, relaxing in the hammocks and waking to the sounds of the birds chirping and water rushing by. It was a great escape from the busy life we usually lead. Carlito took us on a wonderful adventure, hiking up the creek to get to 2 waterfalls. The canopy tour was a thrill. Food was better than expected and we were treated like royalty by the staff. Our bungalow was so beautiful lit by candlelight and surrounded by flowers. Day 3 rafting out was so much fun!!

It was the best trip we ever experienced. We loved the staff, the beautiful nature, the great food and the peace and quiet atmosphere. The hike inside the rainforest was spectacular. I recommend it to everybody. We stayed for three days but next time we will probably spend an extra day here because it is the perfect place to relax. This was the first time the rain didn’t bother us at all (only problem your clothes don’t dry). Thank you!!!!

that everybody has been very nice, beginning from the pick-up at the hotel all

little afraid of taking on the Pacuare, as someone with little rafting
experience. I could not have been more wrong. The guides were excellent, the
safety training was perfect, and the extra day was nothing less than thrilling

Pacuare
Lodge is very beautiful. The accommodations were great. We were very impressed
with the service & attention. The staff is very friendly & sociable. I
always felt very safe. Their concern with Safety is very comforting. Our guide
Fernando was terrific. If we had a question he couldn’t answer, he found the
out right away. Very happy with everything. One
suggestion, I was very interested in the Cabecar way of life and I would have
liked more information on them – like what plants they use for medicines, what
ceremonies they have, their beliefs, do they celebrate marriages, births,
deaths etc. Also how they live, to see a home, where they
sleep etc. I did not want to intrude on them so I did not ask too many
questions. But I would have liked to share something with them and spend some
time with the children & women & learn more about their customs. Thanks
for a wonderful trip!

We truly
enjoyed our time at Pacuare Lodge. For being in such a remote location, it was
surprising to have such comforts. The food was absolutely spectacular – firm
delicious pancakes to red snapper baked in banana leaves! Our rooms were very
comfortable also! The best part was the staff: Andres made it very personal for
us and took excellent care of us all. Many thanks.

The lodge
was a great escape with beautiful rooms and bathrooms both convenient and
comfortable. Our meals were sizeable, diverse and especially delicious. While
at the lodge the scenery seemed like something out of a Tarzan movie, plus the
canopy tour was an absolute blast. Our guides were friendly, funny, and their
English was very good. I would love to return to the Pacuare Lodge in the
future – thank you very much!!

From the
confirmation of our adventure to the moment we returned to the lunch spot,
there was a continuous focus on our comfort. The guides anticipated our desires
and were quick to please whether with a smile, a joke or a pause to allow us to
soak up the lush nature surrounding us. Particular favorites were Luis with his
patience on the canopy tour to ensure that not only was our safety important,
but that we had an enjoyable experience; for Henry & his exquisite meals
& spectacular presentation; and for Manuel with his never ending levity and

What an exhilarating
experience! Although I was actually quite scared of rafting the Pacuare, our
guide was so reassuring and instructive that I found myself thoroughly enjoying

Kurt was awesome. He was so nice and very knowledgeable. The chef at the Lodge
cooked great dinners. We were pleasantly surprised about how nice the
accommodations were. We had an incredible time when we went on a “wet” hike to
several waterfalls with Kurt. We would recommend this tour to anyone.

Pura Vida! The rafting trip was amazing. The best white water rafting I have
